Once again, the Kangaroo Island Field Day is almost upon us, and it’s time to mark the event on your calendar. The Field Day will be held at the Kangaroo Island Race Course on Thursday February 23, which will also be a school closure day.
The committee has spent considerable hours planning and the focus for this year’s event centers on “175 years of Sustainable Farming on Kangaroo Island”.
There’ll be a program packed full of events and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. With special guests Rose Squires from the ABC 891 Saturday Morning program providing advice on home renovations, or maybe organic gardening is more your interest with Tim Marshall.
To keep you informed throughout the day, MC Ian Doyle will join us again.
Take the KI Track to view the Trial Plots or take a seat and listen to the speakers.
Walk around the exhibition stalls featuring a variety of displays from around the country. From fashion parades to photography competition there will be much, much more. Watch resident artist Neil Sheppard complete a painting before your eyes and look out for your opportunity to take home the ‘Shep’ masterpiece when it is auctioned. Or if there are any budding “Shep’s” out there, keep an eye out for the colouring competition in next week’s Islander.
It’s a jam-packed day with the littlies kept occupied with the merry-go-round, model trains or a visit to Old McDonald’s Farm.
If food and wine is more to your taste you can sample some of the local produce and enjoy the full food, drink and bar facilities; local chef Kate Sumner will give a Masterchef Demonstration or wander over and catch celebrity chef Simon Bryant showing us how to eat healthily with lentils.
Health checks; the sheep race; machinery displays. Lots more details soon.
Gates open at 10am.
