On Sunday 40 guests gathered at Stranraer Homestead at 9am to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Royal Flying Doctor Service with a long breakfast fundraiser.
Hosts Lynne and Graham Wheaton greeted guests with a glass of champagne before being seated on a long table on the veranda in the bright autumn sunshine.
The table was laden with platters of gourmet offerings including muesli laced with local yoghurt and fruit, a fruit compote and fresh seasonal fruits.
This was followed by servings of lemon whiting, fillet of lamb, chocolate whisky torte and white velvet cheesecake. Tea and coffee were also served and wines to complement the food.
Artist Pam Kent kindly donated a framed picture for the lucky ticket prize won by Sharon Clark, as well as 25 per cent from the proceeds of her artwork sold on the day to the RFDS.
Thanks to Lynne and Graham and a willing band of helpers, to Marc Warren for his expertise with wines, the Ozone Hotel for the supply of glasses and the KI Laundry for the supply of linen.
Due to the generosity of Lynne and Graham in providing the long breakfast, the RFDS will benefit by $2000.
