Police band three-day tour

09 Feb, 2012 02:54 PM
The SA Police jazz band will spend three days on Kangaroo Island, performing at the KI Field Day on February 23, the three school campuses on February 22 and 24 and holding a public performance at the Kingscote Campus on Friday, February 24.

Seven members of the band, led by band arranger Senior Constable Rob Booth, will perform Dixieland favourites and more with its brass ensemble and banjo.

“While performing at the schools our focus is on engaging the students with fun music, providing them with awareness of our instruments and most importantly contributing to SAPOL’s commitment to working with the community,” Snr Const Booth said.

The public concert will include local acts Famous Strangers, Black Point, Local and Imported Ingredients and Gerome’s jazz ensemble.

Entry will be $8 for an adult, children $5 and families $20. Money raised will go towards buying musical instruments for the school.
