Police take two prowler reports

Police are seeking information regarding the reporting of two prowler incidents in Kingscote last week.

A Kingscote woman, 55, spoke to police on November 11 and reported a prowler who entered her bedroom with a torch in the early hours of November 7. No property was disturbed or taken but police are keen to receive any information about this person’s identity.

A woman, 29, reported the presence of a prowler outside her house on November 13. No property was disturbed or stolen.

November 9: K.I. Police searched and mobilised SES, CFS, along with a police spotter plane to search for a mentally ill man from Brukunga aged 52. The man was eventually found in Kingscote by the police air wing and detained under the Mental Health Act.

November 10: A Gosse resident raised the 000 alarm with a fire spotted uncontrolled on a property off Ahwans Road which police and CFS personnel attended to. Approx 12 acres of crop and some fence were damaged as a result of the non-suspicious fire.

November 11: Police responded to a complaint from the Sealink office of a man being offensive to staff. Police located and detained the man, 34, from NSW, under the Mental Health Act and flew him off island via RFDS for treatment. He was also issued with an expiation notice for possessing a small amount of cannabis.

November 12: Police took details for a vehicle collision off Telegraph Road in a carpark where a woman from Kingscote, driving a Nissan, reversed without due care into a Corolla sedan causing about $1000 damage.

November 13: A Kingscote business was broken into and a large quantity of goods stolen. Crime scene investigators have attended and inspected the site. Any information which may lead to identifying the people responsible can be referred to either Crime Stoppers anonymously or to the local police.

A Kingscote man, 28, reported his Ford utility stolen overnight. The ute was valued at $1000. The owner had left the vehicle unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Police recovered the vehicle dumped in Kingscote on November 15, with front-end damage.

A Kingscote man reported that his dinghy with outboard motor was overturned and sunk off the fisherman’s wharf in Kingscote overnight.

A Parndana woman, 18, was issued with an expiation notice for exceeding the speed limit on Brownlow Road, travelling at 62kmh in a 50kmh zone.

A Kingscote man was issued with an expiation notice for exceeding the speed limit on Playford hwy driving a Toyota at 139kmh in the 100kmh zone.

November 14: A Brownlow business reported that the driver of a white 4wd with red and blue kayaks fixed to the roof racks drove off without paying for a small amount of fuel.

November 15: A man, 20, was issued a warning for emitting excessive stereo music from his vehicle whilst on Centenary Avenue, Kingscote.

A man, 57, from Singapore was stopped and issued an expiation notice for exceeding the speed limit of 115kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Playford Hwy in his Toyota sedan.

A Kingscote man, 47, was issued an expiation notice for failing to wear his seatbelt while driving on Commercial St, Kingscote.

November 16: A man driving a Holden Commodore sedan north along Wedgewood Road reported swerving to miss a kangaroo about 11.40pm causing him to collide with a road sign. The driver caused about $15,000 damage and had his vehicle towed away. Police breath tested the driver who exceeded the prescribed concentration of alcohol and received an expiation notice for the offence.
