Hog Bay v Wisanger
Stormy clouds surrounded Hog Bay for the clash against Wisanger.
Wisanger won the toss and decided to bat, but got off to a shaky start with Wilks out in the second over. Smith entered the crease and put on 23 before skying one to Bowdy who took a well-judged catch. A great spell of bowling by Jack Coleman put the Razorbacks in a good position, taking three wickets, going into drinks with the score at 6 for 75. After drinks, Wisanger’s Howard tried to up the rate before hitting one to Brent Kirby who took a great catch off Clayto’s bowling. From then on the Razorbacks wrapped up the innings with some tricky leg spin by Coppins. Great effort in the field with some good catching and every bowler getting a wicket, it was a good all round effort bowling Wisanger out for 107.
The Razorbacks got off to a good start before Cuz got a good ball from Grimes to
remove his off stump. Then entered Clayto who had one thing on his mind, to get the runs before the storm set in. A storm he did create, hitting 25 runs off one over, making the task easier. With Heater holding up one end nicely, he and Clayto took the score to 82 before Clayto was caught out by Turner off the bowling of Church. With the target in reach, the game took a twist with Florance taking three wickets in an over and the rain getting closer. Thanks to the two young Gurneys at the end, the Razorbacks got over the line, just as the rain came down. Well batted by Heater who put on a well compiled 32 and Clayto with 44 runs.
Well done to both sides on a good spirited game, go you Razorbacks!
Parndana v Kingscote
Parndana hosted Kingscote in warm, muggy conditions under cloudy skies.
Kingscote batted first and after a couple of big shots Morrison was snared by Wurst to a sharp catch in the gully to Gaskin. Rostron then joined Howe at the crease and the pair put on 100 runs combining some big shots with good placement before Howe finally holed out in the deep off the bowling of Hollitt for 66. Rostron and and L Virgo continued to accumulate runs until Rostron was caught by J Sugars off the bowling of Leahy for 59. Green and Stead kept the run rate ticking along but didn’t hang around at the crease for long. M Virgo then joined L Virgo until Laighton was eventually bowled by Kelly in the last over of a rain delayed total of 39 overs.
Kingscote posting a score of 6/222.
In response Parndana lost the early wicket of Kuchel in the 4th over, caught behind off green. Wurst and Ness then paired up, looking good and putting on 20 runs until some tight bowling by Stead saw Ness out on 12. Green continued his great opening spell, snaring Kelly, and then Wurst soon after, who was looking good on 23. Green, Stead and Rostron bowled economically to prevent the home team scoring quickly. Gaskin stayed at the crease for a while seeing the ball well before being caught by Green off the bowling of Morrison for 9. Hollitt came in at 8 and placed the ball well all around the field, picking up plenty of singles and 2s, but was beginning to run out of partners as Parndana continued to lose steady wickets to Morrison and Pledge.
Then Putland joined Hollitt for the final wicket, combining for the home side’s biggest partnership of the match, putting on 31 before Putland was caught at cover off the bowling of Zealand for 12, leaving Hollitt not out for a top score of 25. Kingscote too strong in the end, bowling Parndana out for 100 off 33.1 overs.
