Mixed Open Pinehurst Foursomes

Twenty-four players arrived at the golf club on Saturday morning with the weather not looking very promising to compete in the annual Open Mixed Foursomes. Peter and Jackie Hendy, past residents and a past member of the Golf Club once again generously offered to sponsor this event, thank you, so there were some great trophies on offer for the best scores for the day. Conditions were very tough, the wind strong but we all managed to stay dry.

Winners of the day were Steve and Judy Bell with 79. Runners-up were Karri Heikkonen (Blackwood) partnered by local Sue Speck with 84. This was on a count back from Dean Wiles and Jenny Clifford who also had an 84.

The Handicap Division was won by Gary and Leonie Florance with net 73 1/8.

They are starting to make a habit of taking out the prizes. Well done. Runners-up in the handicap were Dean Wiles and Jenny Clifford with 74 ¼.

Kingscote Men’s Open Day

Sunday September 27

Sunday morning saw 41 players tee off in the Men’s Open. Once again the weather was very windy, rain threatening, but with the course in great condition players looked forward to carding a great round. We had players from seven clubs including Blackwood, Parndana, Penneshaw, Kingscote, Waterside, Yankalilla and a player all the way from Glenvista in South Africa.

The 2009 Men’s 27 Hole Open Champion with a score of 117 is Raymond Wadsworth of Kingscote. Well done Ray and it has been great having you back at our Club this year.

The runner-up only one stroke behind was Kym Garrick (Glenvista, South Africa) on 118. Certainly a long trip for a country golf open but well worth it.
