Kingscote v Wisanger

An undermanned Kingscote team hosted Wisanger, Kingscote winning the toss and electing to bat. Wisanger drew first blood, a good inswinger from C. Smith bowling M. Virgo. Ramsey and Rostron had the opening bowlers under control after that until a change in the bowling bringing Wilks into the attack saw the end of Ramsey for 18.

Rostron and L. Virgo added 50 before both falling on 82 and when Klun got his second wicket claiming Green the over before drinks, Kingscote were looking shaky at 5/94.

The lower order rose to the occasion however, D. Geci looked like he never retired with a solid 42 while Pledge and Furniss were good anchor men while K. Stead teed off up the other end with a quick-fire 60.

Kingscote all out for a very healthy 250. W. Klun the pick of the bowlers while Grimes and Patterson were outstanding in the field.

With the required run rate at five an over, Wisanger wasted no time in chasing down the total, the quick Kingscote oval seeing the balls going to the boundary with ease. Stead seemed to be having one of his good days and was brought into the attack with immediate success, smith getting a healthy edge through to the keeper.

Stead and Rostron troubled the middle order with good line and length and before long; the visitors were 5/68 with Wilks a lone figure at the non-striker’s end.

Wilks was using the pace of the ball well so a changeup was in order, Pledge was thrown the ball and with his 4th ball, got one to jump up and roll off Wilks and into the stumps, dismissed for a well-earned 46.

Chapman and Klun made it to drinks and beyond but were not troubling the scorers much. The clouds were closing in so the ball got thrown back to Stead to finish off the tail. His six wickets along with two from M. Virgo closed out the innings, Wisanger all out for 118.

Hog Bay v MacGillivray

In humid conditions at Hog Bay the toss was won by the Hawks and the Razorbacks were sent in to bat.

With some good tight bowling the top order struggled to hold a partnership, losing wickets regularly, apart from the Captain, Cuz, going along nicely. At drinks the home side sitting at 5 for 101. After drinks Cuz and Kenny Rowe pushed the run rate up putting on 40 before Cuz edged one to gully off the bowling of Colin Bolto. Unfortunately the tail did not hold up and the Razorbacks all out for 151 in the 31st over.

The Hawks were required to bat for 20 minutes before the afternoon tea break and managed to get through without losing a wicket. Colin Bolto and Willson had a good opening stance of 46 before Willson was bowled by Coleman.

Lovering was looking strong before Clayto took the catch of the year at short cover, diving one-handed, with the ball travelling at a fair pace. With a few hard chances put down, it looked to be the day of the Hawks. Although the Razorbacks bowled well, the Hawks had it all under control with time and wickets in their favour. MacGillivray passed the score in the 40th over.

Well done Hawks with some tight bowling, keeping Hog Bay to an average score.

To all you Razorbacks out there, it is time to string a few wins together before the finals, come on boys!

Seniors - Parndana v

Western Districts

Parndana and Western Districts met under breezy, overcast conditions at Parndana oval. Parndana batted first and opening bowlers Larcombe and Koopman struck immediately removing Wurst, Kuchel and Hollit for just one run.

Sam Horjus then arrived at the crease and began to put some runs on the board for the home team. B Gaskin, Ness and Trethewey all combined with Horjus to create good partnerships but good bowling from Buck and Larcombe prevented them from staying with the in-form Horjus to see out the innings. Horjus almost lasting out the overs was eventually out with 4 to go. Cooper and Sugars were able to see out the remaining overs to take Parndana to 9/147 off 40 overs due to a late start with Horjus top scoring on 74 and Larcombe taking 4 wickets.

Western Districts then started its innings in the same way as Parndana losing its top thee - Hammat, Davis and Guersen - to the bowling of Hollit and Wurst for just three runs. Larcombe and Koopman then combined to take the score to 30 despite very tight bowling by Hollit and Wurst before Larcombe was caught by Sugars off the bowling of Cooper with Florance and Koopman following soon after. Cooper and Horjus were taking steady wickets until C. Hammat and downing combined to put on about 30 runs before Downing fell and Hacker followed soon after. Cooper then ran out Halloran to finish the Western Districts innings well short on 86. Downing scored 26 and Cooper taking three wickets.
