Parndana v Wild Turkeys
It was Parndana who got away to an early lead with Hodgy and Ab having wins over Udgy (b) and Graeme (b). Wild Turkeys skipper Rhys steadied the ship with a black ball win over Sacky and Sean won the family showdown against his son, Ben by 2 balls. Marty won the Turkeys second against Darren with Parndana holding a 3 – 2 lead. It looked like Hodgy was going to get the first win in the second round but he fouled on the black against Graeme. Ben then won by 1 over Trev then Sacky and Sean won 2 for Parndana against Udgy (3) and Marty (3). Rhys beat Ab by 1. The score was 5 all. The Turkeys sealed it with Ben, Udgy, Marty, Rhys and Graeme winning the last 5 over Hodgy (1), Trev (3), Sacky (1), Sean (1) and Darren (2) for a 10 – 5 win and a play-off in the qualifying final.
Unga Bungas v Jokers
Lex managed the first win against Jeff on the black. Then Dave beat Bigus by 1 and Wayne beat Fatman by 3. Hiss then managed a 1 ball win over James with Colin getting the better of Bunta by 2 for a 3 – 2 lead to the Jokers. Dave, James, Jeff and Colin won the next 4 over Lex (2), Bigus (b), Gopher (3) and Hiss (5) before Bunta got one back beating Wayne by 3. A 7 – 3 lead to the Jokers. The wind was blown out of the Bungas sails with the Jokers winning the next 5 through James, Jeff, Colin, Wayne and Dave over Lex (2), Bigus (2), Gopher (6), Hiss (b) and Fatman (4). The 12 – 3 win secured top spot for the Jokers and a home Qualifying final against the Wild Turkeys.
Pub Monkeys v Kingscote
Mark Virgo got the Monkeys off to a start with a 2 ball win over Terry then Blur beat Khyal by 2 followed by Greeny beating Brently by 1. Gerry and Getz won the next 2 for Kingscote against Adam (1) and Jeff (b). 3 – 2 lead to Kingscote. The Monkeys then won 4 in a row through Mark, Khyal, Greeny and Adam beating Blur (5), Gerry (7), Terry (b) and Getz (4). Brently won the 10th game over Jeff by 1. The Monkeys were up 6 – 4. Mark won the next for the Monkey against Gerry by 4 and Terry saved one game by beating Khyal by 2. Then Greeny sealed the win for the Monkeys with a 3 ball win against Getz. Brently got another win over Adam by 1 and Jeff (in his farewell game) beat Blur by 1. 9 – 6 win to the Monkeys. The loss didn’t change the minor placings so Kingscote will be playing off in the Elimination final.
Barely Standing v Queenie
The Barely Boys needed a win to secure 4th spot and started well with Wardy, Razza, Doum, Wazza and Chrisso all winning against Poida (1), Fish (3), Maria (b), Karl (b) and Muttley (b). Fish started the second round with a 4 ball win over Wardy and Karl followed up with a 3 ball win over Ducky. Doum won another for the Barely Boys over Poida by 2 and Muttley got the better of Wazza on the black before Chrisso won another over Maria by 1. 7 – 3 lead to Barely Standing. Razza sealed the match with a black ball win over Karl. Poida won against Ducky on the black and Doum and Wazza won the next 2 over Muttley (1) and Maria (2). Fish won the last game over Chrisso on the black. The 10 – 5 win secured an Elimination final against Kingscote for the Barely Boys.
Ozki v Ball Breakers
Ozki got away to a great start with 3 wins through Raymond, Sam and Carls over AJ (2), Ann (3), and Eva (b). Chad beat Julz in his first game and Kez beat Mouse for a 4 – 1 lead to Ozki. Raymond beat Ann by 4 then Chad beat Sam on the black and Carls beat Aj on the black. Mouse won by 1 over Julz and Eva beta Kez by 3 and Ozki were 6 – 4 up. Chad won the next for Raymond by 2 the Sam and Carls sealed the win for Ozki with 2 wins over Aj (6) and Mouse who fouled on the black. Eva won the next over Julz on the black and Kez beat Ann by 1 for a 9 – 6 win to Ozki.
The most valuable player award, for the second season in a row, went to Jeff Turbill. The MVP is awarded to the played who maintains the highest winning percentage throughout the season. Congratulations to Jeff for maintaining a high standard of 8 Ball.
The MVP ranking will be used this season to determine the order of qualification to take part in the KI Representative play-offs. The play-offs are limited to 20 participants and the nomination forms and details are available on the KI 8 Ball website and must be submitted before the March 20. This year the State Carnival will be held again at Glenelg on the long June long weekend.
