A pleasantly warm day at Wisanger.

Great to see some new faces being part of tennis on K.I. this season. Welcome to those new to WD for this season and to Sophie Lewis joining Wisanger having not played since previously being part of the junior competition some years ago. We hope you all enjoy the tennis season.

Play underway with doubles 2,3, and 4. Wisanger coming out on top in those, however the tables were turned in the top double with better play from W.D duo and too many unforced errors from the home pair.

In the middle order singles Wisanger had the better of their (generally) younger opponents. “Whiskers” continued some good form in his match against a slightly rusty Pete Burgess to take out the top single.

Tye Boyle displayed some great shots and made his opponent Steve Berzel work hard in a close fought singles match. Mikayla West and Tessa Shalay played the longest single with determined steady play and some excellent rallies. Well done to both these players on this good match.

Later in the day the reverse doubles saw Wisanger get over the line in the first three matches completed, before the father and son combination of Jamie and Tye Boyle took it right up to their opponents. Tye served particularly well in this this match and combined well with his Dad (who will continue to find more form) to lead 7 games to 4. A fighting comeback from Berzel and West finally levelled the games at 8 before then scraping through in a tie breaker in the last match of the day.

Great that Jamie has taken the opportunity to support the W.D. tennis team to play with his second son, following a season last year playing cricket with eldest son Lucas.

An enjoyable day and pleasing that some more of the former KITA juniors are really finding their feet in the senior ranks.

Wisanger won the day 13/108 to 3/58.
