Western Districts v Dudley
A young A grade for WD took to the green Gosse Oval, missing a few to the sunshine in Bali.
The game started fast with Dudley opening the score. Eli Whale and Steve Rowsell playing nice footy resulting in a score to Wonkies. Sam Correll with lightning fast legs was keeping the game alive. Dudley’s number 29 sealing the first quarter with a goal on the siren. WD 3-2, D 4-2
The game resumed with Sam Correll kicking to Johnny Fry resulting in a beautiful goal. Slato for Dudley was working hard through the centre. Heath Guerny and Steve Rowsell were having a great tussle in the ruck. Nice play through the forwards saw Steve Morgan kick true. WD 7-4 D 5-2
The second half began and the cloud cover came over the fine Gosse Oval. Dudley were playing great team footy and Wonkies Caeleb in defence was working really hard.
Joshie Graham was a huge influence in the centre, bombing it into the forwards for Dudley. The young lads Jack, Anthony and Luke did not disappoint for WD.
Aaron was also having a great day out WD 8.7, D5.5.
The last quarter saw the spectators all fired up, excitement was in the air. Trevor Weatherspoon showing that he’s still got it playing tough footy everywhere he went. L Hacker took a great mark to give Wonks another. Wonks forwards Eli, Steve M and Anthony were all working very hard to seal the deal for Wonks. Dudley’s defense were giving their everything to try and stop a WD dominant team, but to no avail. Sam Shorts boys just too strong taking home the points. WD 12-13, D7-4.
Reserves
Western Districts v Dudley
Reserves boys ran out to a beautifully warm day. The game started hard and fast getting the ball into Whiskers Joe Hunter which resulted in a goal. Monty was trying hard to get the ball out of WD’S grasp. Both sides playing very even footy, but Dudley’s forward line was pushing the ball forward with more intensity. WD 2-2, D 6-4
The Dudley boys came out firing, scoring quickly, but Joe Hunter, Corey and Johnno all giving it back to them. Neil Stoeckel playing well and was scoring trying truly for Dudley. WD 2-2, D 6-4.
The third quarter started with the same rush as the second, how does Monty do it, we ask? Playing full-on footy in Reserves and having to keep it up in the A’s as he was umpiring for Western Districts.
Well done to those fast legs of his, which never tire. Greg Downing for Westies playing great footy resulting in a much needed goal for WD as emotions were running high. WD 3-3, D 11-4.
Last quarter started with WD boys needed to fire up and find their forwards quickly to have an impact on the game. Peesey for Dudley got the ball down to his forward line quickly but WD quickly snatched it back taking it down to their forwards, Jed Martain showing true fitness playing Colts and also making his mark in the reserves. WD, Whiskers, opening scoring in the last. Play was very even with both sides scrabbling for the ball but it was tied up in the centre making it hard for either side to get the break away from the pack. In the end, Dudley came out victors but the Wonkie boys never gave up

Colts
Western Districts v Dudley
The young Colts started on a fine day out West. Scores were opened by WD with great play by the two Boyle Brothers, Jed Martain also working very hard for Dudley early in the quarter. Once again Jack Halloran was taking amazing marks for Westies, resulting in quick goals WD 4-2, D 0.
The second quarter started with strong making but Dudley’s forward line, but to no avail. Westies centre just too strong. WD 12-3, D 0.
Mercy rule was called and Lucas Boyle and Daniel Platten donned the green and gold Guernsey to try and even up play. Finally a long bomb was kicked into Dudley’s Jed Martain who marked strongly and scored for Dudley.
Daniel Platten who was playing for Dudley soon made his presence felt by getting the ball into Dudley’s forward line. Young Nick Hacker was having a great day out running consistently through the centre. Jack Guerny was never giving up under trying conditions.
The last quarter saw Westies having it all their way.
The young Dudley team should be given credit for always trying against a dominant Western Districts side. Harrison Gloyne finished the game off with his first goal of the season. Well done to all players.
