Western Districts v Wisanger

A fine day greeted the Western Districts and Wisanger boys out west. A large crowd had gathered under the change rooms to watch the young lads in action. The first quarter started out strong. The Wisanger boys were giving their all in defence but the Wonkie lads were going in strong with Harrison Gloyne opening the score. Wisanger came back at Wonkies with nice play by No. 4 and Sam Wooley was showing great heart going in hard. Jack Schofield for Western Districts was playing great team footy which resulted in a goal for Travis Hilder to put one more on the board for wonks, but to Wisanger’s credit they were not taking it easy on the favourites.

Second quarter started with Wonkies scoring but Wisanger soon answered back with a goal to No. 7. Lochie Florance was everywhere through the centre and Nick Hacker was rucking awesomely (someone’s been practising) No. Five and No. 11 were putting pressure on the Wonkies boys nabbing and holding the ball possession, but little Cameron Florance got the ball kicking it back to the centre. Young Timmy for Wisanger was playing nice football. Cody Platten answered back with nice play getting the ball out of Wisanger’s forward line and back into the centre, just on the siren.

The third quarter started and both teams were playing strong football but Wonkies had the upper hand on the scoreboard. Wonkies were fierce in getting the ball into their forward line until josh Monroe stood his ground and kicked it back to the centre. Play was back and forward for a while both teams trying hard until Travis Hilder kicked true. Then another came with a lightning fast Damon Weatherspoon kicking the ball to Travis who goaled again. Wisanger answered soon after with a nice goal to No. 24. Ben Nott was showing talent out on the oval never giving in and defending really well.

The last quarter started with the Gosse mist. Tye Boyle started out hard and fast getting the ball down to Keenan Hammat. Sam Wooley answered back playing fantastic footy for Wisanger all game, putting pressure on the Wonkies boys. A great game of footy to watch, Western Districts coming out winners but Wisanger played great footy and certainly showed improvement. Well done to both teams.
