DUDLEY PUTS IT JUST OUT OF REACH FOR HOUNDS

A Grade

Dudley 55 d Kingscote 39

Game started with both teams going goal for goal. Dudley capitalising on a few silly passes by Kingscote to see them get a couple of goals in front. Jasmin and Danni for Kingscote working tirelessly in defence all game. Dudley’s height in centre with Rachael Litster, and Linda Stoeckel in goals was an advantage, making passes just out of Kingscote’s reach.

Dudley wearing black armbands in respect for Nan Rischbieth, the team needed a quarter to settle down. Teams are evenly matched, and fun watching the masters Sharon Gaskin and Julie Helyar standing each other. Second quarter saw Dudley catching Parndana and drawing at half time after getting their eye in to shoot straight. Very skittery game for the first half. Quite warm on court, lots of red faces and a few falls. Third quarter - lots of turnovers meaning low scoring. Jaz with her height, and silly mistakes. Last quarter was the highest scoring and very tight.

Wisanger 56 d

Western Districts 44

Play started quickly with good passing by both sides. There were good interceptions by both teams. Wisanger settled early to take a good lead. Western Districts fought back to within one goal, but Wisanger up by six at end of first quarter. Wisanger surged ahead to be up by nine goals at half time. Jasmin back on with Emma in defence trying hard all quarter for Western Districts. Western Districts caught up for a while then Wisanger surged ahead to be up by 11 goals at three quarter time. Wisanger had an injury with five minutes to go. Wisanger ran out winners by 12 goals.

First three quarters of play were even with some great intercepts from both sides. Last quarter Wisanger pulled away with excellent goal throwing by Nychia and Kristy to win by 20.

By now it is 3 o’clock, my how the weather has changed. It is very nearly raining but not unusual, we are at Wonks after all. Both teams started off well with the score fairly even. Wisanger finished in front at the end of the first quarter, Isobel and Tracey working well in defence for Wonks. The second quarter saw Wisanger surge ahead with Zoey shooting everything coming her way. Third quarter Wisanger came out strong and converted most of their play into goals. The Wonks girls were still playing good competent netball but were having trouble finding the goal ring. Last quarter and it now has started to rain. Both teams came out firing but Wisanger ran away convincing winners. Great effort by both teams – well done to all.

Western Districts 49 d Wisanger 41

Weather conditions good, ideal for playing netball. No wind, no rain, unusual for Wonks. Both teams started off slowly with Western Districts reading the play slightly better than Wisanger. Deb had her eye in for Wonks and shot quite a few goals in the first quarter. Annette playing her usual fast and skilled game, good to watch! Cody blitzed them in goal defence for Wisanger, a really improved player. Both teams played a very tight second quarter with the Wisanger team out-scoring Western Districts. The third quarter saw both teams playing close hard netball but Wonks still too strong. The last quarter saw both teams competing hard for the ball with Wonks winning by eight goals. A good game by both teams. Nice to see the younger girls learning to umpire. Well done all!
