Kangaroo Beach Lodges unveils new catering facility

Champagne flowed and local cuisine was showcased at Kangaroo Beach Lodges last Friday as local tourism partners and key stakeholders joined to celebrate the launch of the company’s new state-of-the-art onsite catering facility.

Exquisite local cuisine was served while guests familiarized or reacquainted themselves with the luxury lodges perched above the spectacular Kangaroo Beach Cove.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony to declare the opening of the catering facility was performed by two of the company directors of Kangaroo Beach Lodges, John and Haydn Wilkinson.

The opening represented the culmination of years of collaboration between Kangaroo Beach Lodges, local food and wine producers and Parndana-based Kuchel Building Contractors, who constructed the first-class catering facility.

Kangaroo Beach Lodges’ general manager Leah Ellis, said the further development of relationships between producers of Kangaroo Island’s famous food and wine was key to the new venture’s success.

 “The future of tourism on our beautiful island depends very much on collaboration between all stakeholders. It is imperative that we continue to work together to showcase the best the island has to offer,” Ms Ellis said.

“We are so fortunate to have acquired the services of tourism professionals Amy Risinger and Ryan O’Rourke, our on-site operations managers, who are the key to integrating our team with local industry.”

Ms Ellis said the new catering facility was an exciting new step for Kangaroo Beach Lodges, which previously provided solely for the popular self-catering market.

“There is huge market potential for our all-inclusive catered packages, which will soon be teamed with ‘experience’ choices, which will include hosted sunset drinks, marroning on the Demole River and guided coastal nature walks. Ms Ellis said the recent alliance between Kangaroo Beach Lodges and Brand KI had endorsed the operation’s key aims, in keeping with shared industry values.

“We aim to provide an industry benchmark for self-catered stays and all-inclusive island experiences and this launch represented an exciting growth milestone for our company,” she said.

“It signals great confidence in the prosperity of tourism on Kangaroo Island.”
