If you are motivated then you are more likely to start and complete the task you’ve set yourself.

Most of people’s failures come from their habit of making excuses. One of the most significant reasons for excuses is lack of motivation. If you are motivated then you are more likely to start and complete the task you’ve set yourself.

Making long term behaviour changes can not only be difficult but also slow, making ongoing and lasting motivation very challenging. We need motivation to get started and to keep going.

Emma Richardson leads a healthy life and shares what motivates her. She wants to be stronger and fitter to avoid injury and also to be a positive role model for her children.

Participating in group fitness classes at KI Warrior Fitness gym is a fun way for Emma to increase her fitness while being motivated by others with a similar mindset.

Emma Richardson recently met with one of her role models, Turia Pitt, an athlete who survived burns to 65 per cent of her body, an inspiring person who believes that with the right mindset people can achieve anything. Through her online program, she mentors people to achieve their goals. She has motivated Emma via her coaching and helped her reach her health goals.

So what can you do to get motivated? Starting is the hardest part, finding what motivates you is the key.

  • Family – wanting to be a positive role model for family.
  • Photos – have an image of you achieving your health goal.
  • Music – a positive motivator to get you in the right mood.
  • Positive self-talk – talk to yourself like a coach would.
  • Having a champion/role model – having someone to offer support.
  • People – having a fitness buddy or group of people with you while you’re either exercising or making a health change.

Most importantly, do what interests you and gives you enjoyment. Choose something that is true to your core values and beliefs and then your motivation will naturally already be there.

This means you’re not setting yourself up for failure and are more likely to achieve your health goals. If you don’t enjoy something it won’t work.

Good luck with finding your motivation!
