The great Australian dream of owning your own home has changed a bit in recent times, with many now preferring something closer to never paying for power ever again, according to Sivcorp Energy.

Senior Consulting Engineer Marc Siv says that this dream can now be a reality, thanks to the power of the sun. Not only will owners be generating power while the sun shines, the surplus energy can also be stored in a battery cell.

This means homeowners are able to use the power continuously without reliance on the public electricity grid.

Renewable Energy KI, which is a subsidiary of Sivcorp Energy, have been delivering this solution to the island for the past 12 months using state of the art lithium ion batteries. The battery cells are compact, lightweight and have an extremely long life of 27 plus years.

The system protects resident homes and businesses from black-outs, allowing peace of mind and the ability to continue trading during extreme weather.

In a local case, Mitre 10 Kingscote owner Preston Bell stated he used to have an average power bill of $1,500 per quarter. After his system was installed however, that bill turned into a $400 credit.

Mr Siv says that if you are building a new home, renovating or wanting to meet your energy needs, this is the solution you need.

“Don’t keep funding overseas companies that own the SA power networks, instead own your own power station.

“The infrastructure on Kangaroo Island’s local network needs to be upgraded, but we don’t see that happening due to the cost versus population. Even if it does, it will likely only drive up the cost of network charges on top of the recent 18 per cent increase.”

Sivcorp Energy are a proud member of the community, and have committed as a major sponsor of the Wisanger Football Club for the next 10 years. They have also appointed Tony Jones as a local senior consultant.

“I have installed my very own system at home, which I am extremely happy with. Now I would like others on the island to gain the same benefits and fully eliminate their power cost,” Tony said.
