Gill Pitt brought her phone into The Islander office on Friday September 22, to show us a new scam that seems to be doing the rounds.

She received the message on Thursday evening at 8.48pm.

The phone number at the top of the screen is: +61420101937.

The message on screen reads, “Have you forgotten to make your payment? A payment of $000.00 (an actual amount was mentioned, but we changed the numbers to protect Gill) on your St George loan is overdue. Please make a payment today.”

Gill does not have a St George account and is savvy enough to know that this is a scam.

She said that if you ring the phone number ‘they’ will give you an account number to pay money into.
