Drug trafficking – 70 yo arrested

Kangaroo Island police have arrested a local woman for trafficking methylamphetamine and cannabis.

On Tuesday September 26, police from KI intercepted a mail package addressed to the woman which contained a traffickable amount of methamphetamine.

As part of this investigation, on Thursday September 28, police searched a house in Kingscote where they found a quantity of cannabis and cash.

The 70 year-old Kingscote woman who lived at the house, was arrested for trafficking in controlled drugs and unlawful possession of the cash.

She was charged and refused bail and appeared in Christies Beach Magistrates court on Friday September 29.

Methamphetamine posted – 49 yo arrested

A Kingscote woman will face court on drug trafficking charges following a police investigation into methamphetamine being posted to KI.

Police will allege the arrested woman posted two grams of methamphetamine from a mainland post office to the Kingscote Post Office late last month.

Police were able to intercept the parcel at the Post Office on its arrival, and as a result of result of inquiries the woman was identified as the alleged sender.

On Monday October 2, KI police searched the woman's home allegedly locating cannabis, a book on cannabis cultivation and unauthorised prescription drugs.

The 49 year-old woman was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and cannabis, as well as possessing prescribed drug equipment and prescription drugs.

The arrested woman was bailed to appear in the Kingscote Magistrates Court on November 20.

Unlicensed driver

At 2.15pm on Tuesday September 26 in Buller St, Kingscote, police apprehended a 22-year-old man from Kingscote.

The man was alleged to be driving unlicensed, unregistered/uninsured and not wearing a motorcycle helmet. He will appear in Kingscote Magistrates Court on November 20.
