Tourism Australia has launched a new video selling Australia to the world – featuring Kangaroo Island.
The video is narrated by movie superstar Chris Hemsworth and focuses on Australia’s aquatic and coastal landmarks.
A twilight dinner on a beach near American River, a couple exploring Remarkable Rocks in Flinders Chase National Park and the view from the Southern Ocean Lodge were featured early on in the advertisement.
The video showcases the island’s natural beauty as well with a couple mesmerised by bounding kangaroos and another scene showing a couple traversing one of the island’s boardwalks surround by endless scrub.
Mr Hemsworth helped to launch the video on Australia Day in New York City and it will be targeting the American market but will soon expand to audiences including in the United Kingdom, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia and New Zealand as well.
“Potential visitors viewing the campaign can take in the majestic landscape and unique wildlife around Kangaroo Island, see the views from the luxurious Southern Ocean Lodge sitting atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast, and explore the Island’s iconic Remarkable Rocks,” said Federal Member for Mayo Jamie Briggs.
“I am so proud to represent the electorate of Mayo, whose wonderful diversity of aquatic and coastal experiences are featured heavily in this video.”
“This new aquatic and coastal campaign will help to attract visitors and drive spending right across the electorate of Mayo.
“Presently, 70 per cent of our international visitors enjoy an aquatic and coastal experience during their trip so we are building on one of our great strengths and reflecting the Government’s move to more targeted international tourism marketing.”
A short form of the commercial has been running locally since Australia Day.
Keep an eye out for Kangaroo Island locations at 0.39-0.41, 00.56-01.09, 02.17-02.17 and 02.29 - 02.29 in the video.
