Livestock producers are required to have a written Farm Biosecurity Plan by October 1 2017. Meat Livestock Australia will make this a mandatory condition in the new Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) accreditation program.
It involves the introduction of biosecurity and animal welfare requirements, a regular online assessment and online learning modules to support producer understanding of their on-farm requirements.
The changes are designed to ensure the Australian red meat and livestock industry maintains its global reputation as a world leader in food safety, integrity and traceability, giving producers the evidence to stand by what they sell.
For many producers this is new, unexpected and possibly confronting. If you want to understand more about what is happening, why it is happening and what it means to you then please attend one of the three Farm Biosecurity Workshops being held next week. You will leave better informed and with your own personal, accredited Farm Biosecurity Plan. This will make you eligible to sign up to the new LPA programme on October 1 2017.
For information of the three workshops next week contact Andrew Ewers on 8553 4949 or 0418 828 567.
