Due to popular demand and growth in the sport, Football Federation South Australia (FFSA) are coming to Kangaroo Island to engage with schools and the football community.
Three officials from the Game Development team will be on the island for two days, from Tuesday August 15 to Wednesday August 16.
Matt Mays (Regional Development), Jake Brindley (ALDI MiniRoos Officer) and Cristiano Dos Santos (Coach Education Manager) make up the trio.
Cristiano Dos Santos played in the UEFA Champions League with FC Basel, before moving to Australia and played forty-nine games for Adelaide United.
Cristiano also won goal of the tournament in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.
The team will hold clinics at KICE campuses which will include a taste of Futsal and the outdoor game.
FFSA will also be holding an informal open forum at the Aurora Ozone Hotel, where the public are invited to voice their opinions and ideas on how we all can contribute to growing the game on Kangaroo Island.
Regional Development Officer Matt Mays said, “We are extremely excited about making our first ever visit to Kangaroo Island.
“Regional football is a big passion of ours and we cannot wait to build some strong foundations on the island and tap into its pool of football talent.
“We ask the football community to come join us on Tuesday August 15 and be a part of building something special.”
Alex Laver, Primary HPE Teacher at KICE (Kangaroo Island Community Education) – Kingscote Campus said, “It is a fantastic opportunity for KICE students to have people from FFSA come to our school and pass on their skills.”
FFSA hopes to return to Kangaroo Island in the coming months for a longer visit in the spring.
