The Parndana Town Hall was alive on Sunday, September 10 for the Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club’s 33rd annual concert.
The day was a great success with about 150 people coming to watch the participants perform their routines and dances.
The girls on stage clearly enjoyed having their friends and families in the crowd to watch them, particularly the young Tinies.
For many in the group, it was their first concert and a real thrill to see them doing their best for the audience, as they marched, performed their exercise routine and danced to ‘Move Your Feet’.
The Sub-Junior Two team were also performing their routines for the first time this year and did extremely well. In addition to their march, exercises and dance, they also performed a rod’s routine, dressed as ‘Troll’s’ to the song ‘Get Back Up Again’.
The Junior and Sub-Junior One teams showcased the routines and dances they have worked so hard at for the year and took away to the State Championships, where they both received the winner’s trophy for their division.
Coaches Kirby Fryar, Tracie Heinrich and assistant coach Nataskia Bennett were congratulated and thanked for their hard work in preparing all of the participants for the performance.
The 2017 club shield was awarded to Kirby and Tom Fryar.
Kirby is the head coach of Kangaroo Island Calisthenics and the Club wanted to acknowledge their appreciation to the whole Fryar family for their dedication and commitment to calisthenics, particularly in a year when Kirby and Tom welcomed their second baby, Myla, a little sister to Mack, who was just 14 months old when Myla was born.
At the end of the concert a raffle was drawn with many prizes donated by generous local Kangaroo Island businesses.
Thank you to every one who helped on the day to make the Concert and Presentation a great success.
Thank you also to our many sponsors including the KI Council, Sealink, Drakes Foodland and Elders for their support.
