Saturday October 14 saw Junior and Senior matches between Kingscote and Western Districts, Kangaroo Island.

Seniors

Western Districts won the toss on the day and elected to bat first. 

They sent out the Hammat brothers to start the innings for Western Districts, with them both playing solid, defensive cricket. 

The first wicket fell in the seventh over, and Western Districts were 1 for 16. 

From here, Western Districts needed to make some quick runs, so they sent in B Davis next. 

His visit was ended quickly due to some good work in the field by B Niemann sending him off the field for three runs. 

Kingscote continued to bowl well keeping the visitors to a total of 86, with wickets being taken by K Hodge, J Chanda and J Grimes against his old side. 

K Hammat led Western Districts in their endeavours making a total of 23 with other solid batting efforts by M Linke and C Blythe making 19 and 20 respectively.

Kingscote came in to bat and did not hold back, making runs quickly.

The Kingscote side made 35 off just three overs led by P Green making the high score of 34. 

The first wicket fell off C Dungey in the seventh over which was bowled by C Blythe and caught by S Hammat. 

Western Disctricts then pressed, getting another two wickets in the next two overs tohave Kingscote 3 for 50 off nine overs. 

The captain, L Virgo came in and with the help of K Hodge, finished off the innings in style making 20 and 21 to bring Kingscote up to 3 for 92 off 15.1 overs.

Juniors

On a slightly chilly Saturday morning, Western Districts came to play.

Western Districts won the toss and elected to bat sending in R Boyel and R Benney who both played superbly and retired at 30 and 32 respectively.

This strong start led Western Districts to making a total of 163 with the first wicket not being taken until 21 overs in.

The best bowling figures came from M Warren who bowled 1 for 7 off 4 overs.

After Western Districts had posted their score, Kingscote went in to bat led by V Virgo and K Wintinna.

Western Districts had other plans in mind making sure their bowling was tight, making it hard for the batsmen to make runs.

The first wicket fell in the eighth over, and from here Western Districts did not take their foot off the gas, taking wickets regularly.

Kingscote finished their innings making a total of 105 with V Virgo making a top score of 20 for Kingscote.

The best bowling figures of the day came from T Morrison getting 2 for 8 off 4 overs.
