What is Kangaroo Island parkrun?

It is a 5km run - it's you against the clock, every Saturday at 7.45am for an 8am start. It is launching on October 28, 2017.

To get parkrun happening on KI, two islanders - Sandra Lampard, and Tessa Shalay have been working with parkrun HQ to find an appropriate location and course, and it will be at the Tidal Pool, Chapman Terrace, Kingscote.

It is free, but please register before your first run. You only need to register with parkrun once at: parkrun.com.au/register.

Bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won't get a time.

It’s for everyone, whether you’re young or old, male or female, fit or unfit, able-bodied or not, you’re always welcome. It’s not about racing, it’s about running.

We all run for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace – walk, jog or run.

Every week, we grab a post-parkrun coffee in the Ozone Hotel on Chapman Terrace, so please come and join us.

So long as we have our fantastic volunteers and backers to make it happen, our events will always be free and everyone will always be welcome, email: kangarooislandhelpers@parkrun.com to help.

Sandra Lampard, and Tessa Shalay received startup funding, and funding for a defibrillator from SA Government - Office of Recreation and Sport.

KI Council have also been supportive in allowing the weekly use of the foreshore walking trail, and placement of signage to promote the event each week.
