Three new luxury villas are set to be built at KI’s Sea Dragon Lodge, with the company today announced as a successful recipient of a State Government Future Jobs Fund grant.
The $600,000 grant will also see the Lodge upgraded to a 5-star standard, attracting high-yield tourists and increasing the selection of top class accommodation available on KI.
The boost to guest numbers will result in an additional 34 jobs being created on the Iisland, including at Sea Dragon Lodge.
Owner Steve Lane said, “ The flow-on effect for jobs in our local community will be substantial.”
Premier Jay Weatherill met with owner Steve Lane on Monday on Kangaroo Island to hear more about his plans for development.
The total upgrade is expected to cost around $1.5 million, with the State Government also providing part funding in the form of a low-interest loan of $286,000.
Sea Dragon Lodge is a 2015 SA Tourism Gold Medal Winner, and the only establishment on KI to have its own pristine secluded beach with private access.
