Kangaroo Island gymnastics identity Jo Davidson has been awarded the SA Gymnastics "Volunteer of the Year" 2018 Award for her many years of dedication to the sport and was presented with her award at a Gymnastics SA event recently.

Jo is the president of Kangaroo Island Gymnastics this year again, after returning from three years living on the mainland.

Jo was previously president and head coach at KI Gymnastics for almost a decade and this year returns to lead the club and coach once again.

While living on the mainland, Jo was volunteer president of the Gym For All sports management committee of Gymnastics SA and volunteer coach at Morphett Vale Gymnastics Club.

She also worked for Gymnastics SA teaching in schools.

KI Gymnastics past president Shauna Black said Jo had given many, many years of effort and time.

“Jo was the driving force behind our club's entry in the World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki in 2015 and her passion for gymnastics has helped the club to grow and thrive,” Shauna said.

KI Gymnastics now has more than 70 members ranging from toddlers (kindergym) to 18. The club is preparing to send a team to the next World Gymnaestrada in Dornbirn, Austria, next year.
