Kangaroo Island Pony Club hopes to expand riding facilities

The Kangaroo Island Pony Club is once again going through a period of rapid growth, as this hardy club prepares to celebrate its 50th birthday later this year.

Newly elected club president and Life Member, Bill Roper said 18 months ago, the club was were lucky to have three riders at a rally.

“Today we have 40 riding members and are regularly seeing 16 to 20 riders on rally days, plus their support crews,” Mr Roper said.

“The committee has done a great job in getting the word out and encouraging new members to come and have a go.

“With a growing membership our facilities and equipment are being stretched to the limits, improvements need to be made to ensure our kids and horses get the most out of rally days and that the facilities are adequate to support safe, fun and adventurous horsemanship.”

The club is currently running a Thermomix raffle – with only 250 tickets available. The raffle closes on Sunday, September 2.

Tickets are available online at https://www.rafflelink.com.au/kipc2018 or go to the Kangaroo Island Pony Club FB page

“All 250 tickets must be sold so buy one for yourself or for a present or feel free to share the raffle link if you know someone who would like to enter – you have a much better chance than the lotto!” Mr Roper said. “Remember get your tickets quick.”

Also keep an eye out for the Pony Club’s cake stall in front of Century 21 on KI Settlement Day on Friday, July 27 from 9am.

Club members will have facilities available on the day to purchase tickets at the stall too.
