Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club wins at State Championships

The Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club has had two very exciting weeks, taking Sub-Junior and Junior teams away to the Annual State Championship competitions in Adelaide at the Royalty Theatre.

On the big night, all teams represented Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club proudly and came home with outstanding results. Congratulations to the girls competing and their Coaches Kirby Fryar and Tracie Heinrich.

The Sub-Junior Competition was on Sunday, August 11 where two teams competed. The older Sub-Junior 1 team performed extremely well, coming away with a first in their ‘March’ Routine.

The Sub-Junior 2 team were all new to the Royalty Theatre stage and delighted those watching with their fantastic performances. The KI team as a whole came a very close second overall in their division on the night.

On Sunday, August 19 the Junior Team performed six routines at the Royalty Theatre in spectacular fashion. They were awarded three first places in March, Exercises and Aesthetics and second place in their Rods, Clubs and Dance routines. Finishing up overall State Champions for Division 4!

Both weekends, the judges were very impressed with coach Kirby’s choreography and music choices and the training on teamwork.

The costumes were amazing and the way the girls were presented for the stage at each comp was also noted and very impressive.

The trips away are an enormous effort and an achievement by all involved. Well Done! Thank you to Sealink and the Kangaroo Island Council for being major sponsors of the club.

Don’t miss seeing all of these teams, plus our Tinies team, perform their routines at the Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club’s Annual Concert at 1.30pm on Sunday, September 9 at the Parndana Town Hall.
