Semi Final – September 1 at Parndana
A grade: A great first quarter by both teams. Carly Willmott (WD) shooting well for Western Districts, not missing many in the first quarter. Nikki Boxer (DU) timing some strong intercepts to turn the ball over for Dudley United on many occasions. Even at the first break. Dudley United scoring the first 3 goals of the second half. Dudley United dominating the second quarter keeping Western Districts to just 4 goals for the quarter. Ella Johnson (DU) and Charlotte Gilfillan (DU) in defence for Dudley making it hard for the Western Districts goalies to shoot. Nikki Boxer (DU) having another great quarter also making it hard for WD to get the ball down the court. Both teams making positional changes at half time. Emma Coppins-Dankiewicz (DU) and Tash Boxer (DU) combing well in goals for Dudley United and shooting some beautiful goals. Julie Helyar (DU) had a quick run at C due to Ruby Gurney (DU) coming off for a blood rule. Western Districts also loosing Jacky Sands and Anthea Manuel to hand injuries. Great game to watch. Good luck for next week Western Districts and hopefully Jacky and Anthea’s hand recover quickly so they can play next week…..
C grade: Parndana started well, shooting accurately, but WD came back at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw Parndana up by 5. In the third quarter with accurate shooting by Janine Mauheni (WD), Western Districts were only 1 down. The last quarter was tight with both teams fighting hard. Parndana winning in the end by 3. An excellent hard fought game by both teams with excellent defence, turning the ball over frequently. For Parndana Steph Wurst and Renea Neeson in defence and for WD Hannah and Millie played well.
D grade: Good start for Western Districts turning the ball over from Kingscote centre pass. Shooting is pretty good. Defence is good. Western Districts is applying great pressure on Kingscote. Score 1st quarter K 8 and WD 9. A very tightly contested game from both sides. All players putting in a big finals effort. Kingscote very tight defence. Some good long bombs coming from the Kingscote goalies and consistent shooting at WD end. Score’s even at half time. Second half of the game saw even play both teams fighting hard for the ball. Western Districts slowly taking the lead and capitalising on Kingscote’s mistakes. Well done to both sides playing a great finals game.
15&U: Both teams taking a bit to settle. Very even court play. Abby Morris (WD) and Amber Nimmo (WD) defending hard and intercepting. Kingscote’s Nicole Symens moving and shooting well. At quarter time Kingscote leading by 12 goals to 7. Nicole Symens (K) and Chloe Pitman (K) combining well in the ring for Kingscote. Olivia Downing (WD) putting lots of pressure on Kingscote all the way down the court. At half time Kingscote holding their lead 20 goals to 16. Western Districts had a positional change with Jemma Bald (WD) coming into GK. Kingscote Liana Cockshell and Madison Johnston providing lots of defensive pressure. Nicole Symens and Chloe Pitman very accurate and shooting well. At ¾ time Kingscote leading 29 goals to WD 21. Western Districts came out fired up in the fourth quarter with Jemma Bald (WD) and Abby Morris (WD) working hard in defence and Carly Willmott (WD) and Tilly Bald (WD) making their shots count. Kingscote stayed settled and focused defeating Western Districts 38 goals to 31. Well done Kingscote and good luck to Western Districts next week.
13&U: An intensive start by both teams. Everyone eager for the ball. Taking a bit for either team to get a goal with WD scoring after a few minutes. Alex and Jimmi taking some good intercepts for Parndana and Molly and Grace defending hard for WD. Raemi and Amahli moving and working well in the goals. Quarter time, Western Districts lead 12 to 1. Another intense start with both teams fighting hard. Camilla taking some good intercepts for WD. Iiesha working well for Parndana, with strong leads and re-offering. Grace Morgan and Evie Hammat combining well with pressure in the centre third. Half time WD lead 22 goals to 4. Changes made by Western Districts. Parndana settling first in third quarter focused getting a few quick goals on the board unsettling Western Districts. Abby and Iiesha doing great play in the circle. A great quarter by Parndana. Western Districts lead 26 goals to 16. An even start to the last quarter. Scarlett defending tight for Parndana and Grace Kemp for Western Districts. At the final whistle Western Districts defeated Parndana 34 goals to Parndana 20. All the best to all for the rest of the finals.
11&U: The game started with an intercept to Parndana but Wisanger quickly got the ball back and put the first score on the board. Wisanger’s goal shooting combination of Zoe Berden and Tahlia Florance proved troublesome for Parndana. Wisanger steadily built a lead although Parndana kept moving the ball forwards. The second half saw both teams make changes and the game evened out. A slow scoring last quarter as both teams tired. Well done to both teams.
Semi Final – September 2 at Western Districts
11 Unders: A great game from both teams. Western Districts started strong. Kingscote struggled to get the ball into the ring. The ball flowed well up both ends with strong shooting from from both teams. Western Districts gained speed in the 4th quarter coming home with a strong win. Western Districts 26 defeated Kingscote 14
D Grade: The rain cleared for the start of the game and both teams took a little to warm-up. Both sides defence were working hard with Shakira Tremaine (Parndana) and Rachel Barr (Wisanger) making it difficult for the goalies in the first qtr. In the 2nd qtr Kaitlin Warner and Anthea Ness combined well in goals for Wisanger and this continued in the 3rd with Kaitlin sinking goals from anywhere in the circle. Parndana made positional changes for the last qtr with the zippy Christine Edwards moving into goals and outscoring Wisanger for the qtr, but unable to peg back the lead. Wisanger running out deserving winners by 13 in the end. Wisanger 37 defeated Parndana 24
B Grade: First Qtr very close, lots of turn overs from both teams, score even 10-10. 2nd Qtr, again, even match play by both teams. Both DU and WD causing goalies to work under pressure. Half time score 16 (WD) to 17 (DU). Third Qtr game play consistent with both teams leaving the score to 29 (WD) to 26 (DU). Last qtr WD taking the lead and bringing the final score to 44 (WD) – 32 (DU). Excellent game to watch and both teams should be extremely proud of the match. A Grade: A really great contested game by both teams. Great shooting by Kingscote’s goalies, barely a shot missed all game by Kelly Roads and Ashley Green. The first half was goal for goal. Wisanger came out hard in the 3rd Qtr and dominated all the way down the court throughout the third and fourth quarter to take out the win. Wisanger 49 defeated Kingscote 30
