A Grade – The game was off to a very fast pace, with brilliant team play on both sides. Great positioning by WD, Sarah Weatherspoon and steady shooting by W, Renae Florance GS, saw Wisanger take the lead. A nerve wrecking 2nd quarter saw beautiful team play all around for Saints and they are closing the gap. After a 5 goal lead at half time, Jodie Walsh (WD) and Carly Willmott (WD) fought hard to turn the ball around, all of the 3rd quarter. Beautiful centre court play by Georgia Weatherspoon (WD) against a strong Wisanger centre Bec Bott. A hard fought last quarter by both sides, but Wisanger’s GK Jasmin Smart proving to strong for the WD shooters and helping Wisanger win the game in the end. Great fight by all WD girls, a very close and exciting game, with Wisanger too strong at the end. Congratulations Wisanger!
C Grade – Wisanger won the 1st quarter. Western Districts settled in the 2nd quarter, good defending WD and out scored Wisanger 11-3 goals to be up 19-12 at the end of the 2nd quarter. Western Districts kept the pressure up and great goal throwing by Janine Mauheni (WD) and Millie Speed (WD). Wisanger trying hard to come back in the last quarter to lose by only 3 goals. Well done both teams, great game.
D grade – Kingscote started strong, a few unsettled passes letting Wisanger get a look in, but by half time the game was Kingscote’s. Even with changes made by Kingscote. Great shooting by Kaitlin Warner (W), there was not enough time for Wisanger to claw back. Drizzly rain made footing a little precarious. Tania Roads (K) and Julie Horsfall (K) very strong in goal’s and the Kingscote defence was picking up any stray shots and sending the ball back down Kingscote’s end. The final score doesn’t reflect how hard the game was fought. No major spills thank goodness.
15 and Under – Very windy day, Western Districts played very well and goals were going in one after the other. Dudley United kept coming back, but Western Districts were too strong.
11 and Under – Centre pass won by Parndana with a quick turn over and first goal in by Western Districts. Strong plays by Western Districts and close defence from Parndana trying to stop their goals. Charlotte Wheaton (P) and Regan Clark (P) working hard together. Western Districts playing beautifully in first quarter saw them up by 5. With a quick whistle blow, Parndana came back with a fight trying hard to close their gap saw a lot of turn overs happening from both sides and strong mid court plays from both ends. Third quarter, Western Districts up by 5 again saw change in the mid court from both sides and defenders trying to close the gap and recover from a lot of replays. Fourth quarter Western Districts was too strong on the day winning 32 to 25. Well done girls, a special mention from Parndana coach to all teams, Good luck!! Thank you girls for yet another awesome season it was a privilege to be there again.
