‘mainly music’ turns 5 years old on Kangaroo Island

About 50 kids with their parents and grandparents on October 31 gathered at KI Anglican Church to celebrate five years of “mainly music” on Kangaroo Island.

The celebration was combined with the inaugural Halloween-alternative “Light Party”.

Free face painting, cupcake decorating, paper lantern making and giant outdoor games, including snakes and ladders, Jenga and Twister, were enjoyed alongside the sausages and salads.

Everyone then gathered together for a “favourites” session of “mainly music” in the church and a quick reflection on something Jesus said: “I am the Light of the World! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life!”

Birthday cake and party bags rounded off the night.

Thanks to all who helped out, and for those who came to help celebrate.

Since so much fun was had by all, we’re looking forward to next year’s Light Party on October 31 - a chance for families to go out together, dress up and have fun in a carnival-like atmosphere, without the darker themes often associated with Halloween.

“mainly music” is held on Tuesday mornings during term time at 9.30am in the church on the corner of Drew and Osmond streets and costs $5 per family, with morning tea included.
