Qantas Wine will be showcasing wines from three Kangaroo Island wineries and the offering will be the first national promotion for KI wines.
Recognising the quality of the Island’s food and beverage offering and wanting to share it with its frequent flyers, Qantas will be promoting a mixed six pack of the Island’s finest wines through its online platform Qantas Wine in June 2019.
The wineries featured in the six pack from The Stoke, Dudley and Islander Estate wineries.
Nick Dugmore from The Stoke is "stoked" to be featured in the promotion.
"My wife Rebecca and I started The Stoke a few years ago following travels around the world, we understood the uniqueness of the Island and we are delighted Qantas’ customers will be getting the chance to discover and taste a bit of it as well through our wines and those of the Islander and Dudley Wines," Mr Dugmore said.
Qantas Wine buyer Claudia Lill who previously managed the wine selection for Qantas international and domestic flights and lounges for nearly decade, crafting it into one of the most successful airline wine programs in the world.
"We are always looking to offer excitement, quality, value, interest and discovery to our customers," she said. "Kangaroo Island is a new Australian wine region showing great promise, and we are delighted to be the first to showcase it nationally."
Commissioner for Kangaroo Island, Wendy Campana said Qantas was extending its commitment to Kangaroo Island. Qantas flights linked the island to a selection of Australia's capital cities, and now its online wine store was offering the region's wines to frequent flyers.
Kangaroo Island’s boutique food and beverage offering included many great products in addition to its wines including beer, gin, olives and of course seafood, she said.
"The Island crafts some truly unique and fascinating offerings, all of which have been integral in our efforts to promote the Island and develop its economy," Ms Campana said.
"I am delighted Qantas, Australia’s leading carrier, is really supporting the Island, not only in developing regular services to the Island but now by getting behind its producers.
"I join Qantas in raising a glass to Kangaroo Island and look forward to the Island’s wine not only being discovered but most importantly enjoyed, by wine drinkers around Australia."
