Wedding bells were ringing on Kangaroo Island over the long weekend with two weddings.
Olivia Swayne and Damon Weatherspoon on Sunday, March 10 tied the knot on a beautiful setting up on a hill overlooking the American River inlet on the property belonging to David Florance.
The venue was decorated with the tipi and umbrellas by Alec Hall of the Wandering Souls glamping business.
The girls arrived in a classic white Monaro belonging to David Florance and the boys left in a classic white ute belonging to Trevor Weatherspoon.
Olivia’s attendants were her sister Georgia as maid of honour, Jess Bates, Michaela O’Brien, Zoey Wooley and Georgia Weatherspoon.
Damon’s attendants were best man Keenan Hammat, Jake Nolan, Travis Hilder, Jack Grimes and Robbie Barter.
Esther Helyar was the flower girl and Alby Correll was the page boy.
The marriage celebrant Vicki MacLean performed the wedding ceremony and Terri and Alex from Little Big Words performed the music accompanying the ceremony.
Brenton Florance acted as MC. Father of the bride Michael Swayne, best man Keenan Hammat and maid of honour Georgie Swayne all addressed the wedding party and the groom Damon suitably responded.
Many family and friends travelled from Adelaide for the occasion.
Wedding reception was held at the Kangaroo Island racecourse with 170 family and friends and catered for by Lucy’s KI Kitchen, where a beautiful meal was served.
After the formal speeches, the music was ramped up by DJ Jayden Freitag and guests danced the night away.
Olivia plays A Grade netball for Wisanger and also A Grade basketball for Queenie.
Damon plays for football for Western Districts A Grade and cricket for MacGillivray.
Then on Monday, Catherine Bennett and Dennis Jamieson were married at home in Kingscote in a surprise ceremony, much to the delight of their friends and family.
Catherine's son Josiah gave her away and her daughter Nataskia was her attendant.
Dennis' daughter Jade was best man carrying the rings. Catherine's family came from Balaklava for the long weekend and the wedding was a big surprise.
Sam Kempster and then Angus Guild and bass player provided the music. Lucy’s KI Kitchen did a tasting table and Brad did a cake.
