KI Connect ferry gets permission to layover at Penneshaw

The Kangaroo Island Connect ferry service now has permission from State transport authorities to layover at night Penneshaw.

KI Connect managing director David Harris said this was excellent news for the ferry service.

"The American River leg of our service has not proved to be viable," Mr Harris said.

"Now that we can layover at Penneshaw will be deleting this service until demand can justify running it again.

"For those who have bookings in place we will be running a shuttle service to and from Penneshaw leaving at the same time as the ferry."

Mr Harris said the cost savings from running from Penneshaw had enables KI Connect to introduce a pre-purchased,10-trip, one way trip ticket called the "Just Jump On Pass".

For adults, the cost will be $200 and children $150.

Tickets aren't available online but can be purchased on the ferry or at our Penneshaw office, he said.

"Just Jump on Passes are available to everybody, no need to be an Island resident or someone's friend who is. The passes aren't limited to a single person. One pass can be used by the whole family," he said.

"Passengers can still book online but we think the time has come to make it really easy. Just turn up on time and get on the boat then leave the rest to us.

"kic is committed to providing the fastest, cheapest and easiest way of passengers travelling between Kangaroo Island and the mainland, and The Jump on Pass is another step in that direction."
