KI PROGRAM: Sharon Kauppila - Kauppila Building, Sue Pattingale - The Figgery and Julia Mann - Clover Strategy participate in the 2018 Strategic Growth Program on Kangaroo Island.

A next round of the Strategic Growth Program is being offered to Kangaroo Island businesses.

The program is designed to give businesses the tools, training and coaching needed to turn ideas into profits.

The Strategic Growth Program is one element of a suite of programs being delivered on the Island in 2019 through the Kangaroo Island Industry & Brand Alliance, with funding support from the Commissioner for Kangaroo Island and the Federal Government through their Building Better Regions Program.

In 2018, 10 local KI businesses participated in an eight-week Strategic Growth Program facilitated by business strategist Julia Mann of Clover Strategy.

Through the experiences of 2018, the 2019 program has been expanded to provide additional onsite one on one mentoring sessions with Julia.

Growth comes in many forms for businesses, but not all growth opportunities are worthy of investment.

This program will support SME's to identify growth opportunities and undertake strategic decision-making processes to determine opportunity feasibility.

This will include assessing both market and industry opportunities, analysing the opportunities in depth and then forming a Strategic Growth Plan suitable to deliver to key stakeholders.

KI Industry & Brand Alliance manager Shauna Black said the program would utilise real business opportunities, therefore, each business would complete the program with an actionable Strategic Growth Plan.

"The Strategic Growth Plan is a combined, opportunity analysis, business case report and project plan," Ms Black said.

"The plan is designed for three key purposes: firstly, to ensure opportunities identified by the company are feasible and will benefit the company's future and sustainable growth.

"Secondly, the project plan element will be a vital tool in successfully delivering the opportunity. And finally, these plans can be utilised to seek key stakeholder approval and investment."

Program project manager Sue Arlidge said a key outcome of the program was to ensure participating businesses had the tools and had gained skills to produce future business cases, enabling them to analyse future ideas and opportunities and to continue to develop strategic growth plans beyond the program.

Expressions of interest (EOI) for the Strategic Growth Program open May and close May 21.
