The Kangaroo Island Yacht Club is welcoming new sailors and people interested in learning to sail to the club.

The club is hosting a special meeting at 2pm on Sunday, June 23 at the yacht club, reaching out to old and potential new members.

"We're calling for people to come forward, sailors and crew who can support the training learning and running of the training, learning and sailing days and competitions that the club wants to build up towards," club publicity officer Thea Meadows said.

"We're wanting to reach out to anyone who may want to be part of a friendly sporting community, who enjoys recreation around the water and a good family atmosphere to come join in and be part of the sailing community and the club KI is proud of.

"We want to invite anyone, who would like to learn and those that have sailed before to share there skills all are welcome.

"We want to establish what people, ages and interest there is. What times and days best suit people and establish the skills and resources that are in the community that people and the community can bring to the club."
