The "World Game" off soccer has finally come to Kangaroo Island with training and a friendly game happening Tuesday evenings at American River.

About 12 people showed up for a very successful inaugural training and game night last Tuesday, June 11, where Paul from the Football Federation SA attended to lend his support.

Paul from FFSA delivered the new club some gear, including bibs, training cones and some balls to play with, as well as the goals supplied previously.

Getting the round ball game up and going on KI is self proclaimed "Mr Football" - Shane Smith.

"We had men, ladies and kids of all genders playing together and having a fun and enjoyable evening," Shane said.

"Many of the ladies arrived in jeans and and a jumper only expecting to watch their kids run around but were well surprised when they were on field playing and also surprised at the fun that was had!"

The American River Community and Sports Association is supporting soccer on the Island.

Those who sign up for soccer are being asked to join the association for the price of $25 per person or $60 per family.

This will allow the fledgling KI soccer club to gain insurance and also any reduced prices on meals and items for sale at The Shed at American River.

Anybody interested please come along to The Shed on Tuesday evenings at 5pm or call Shane Smith on 0438 368 724 for more information.
