Clr Leeza Irwin resigned from the KI Council after last Tuesday's July meeting citing her reasons in a resignation letter. "During the past eight months, I have witnessed many things I do not stand for and in fact goes against everything I am," she wrote. "I have found I am asked way too often to make decisions on things that are not fair and just.

"I can handle being negatively talked about and voted against about many things, footpaths, roads, environmental issues etc, but when I am asked to assist in destroying people's reputations, quality of life and mental health, that's where I draw the line.

"One of my main regrets is we have focused so much time and money on pulling people down, we have had very little time to work on and implement the core functions of council. I have enjoyed working with some of the staff and councillors that are decent people, and I am hopeful they will manage to turn this situation around."

The KI Council does not need to hold a by-election to replace Clr Irwin but will need to if another resigns.
