KIFL Round 13 - Hounds victorious over Panthers | PHOTOS

The sunny day and the good playing surface were tempered by the addition of very strong wind that would test the skills of all players.

Kingscote's captain Luke Bruce won the toss and went with the breeze, A quick snap by Grimes was followed by another from Curley.

More quick scores posted were danger signals but the Wisanger boys persisted and moved the ball forward to score a couple of goals into the breeze.

At quarter time, Kingscote with six goals led Wisanger with two.

Going with the breeze in the second quarter, Wisanger struggled to overcome the efforts of the Kingscote backmen.

The Dogs on the other hand found space and ran the ball forward repeatedly.

Half time saw the scoreboard read Kingscote 10.2 to Wisanger 3.2.

The third quarter began with two Kingscote majors but a more determined Wisanger turned the game into more of an arm wrestle, although the goal tally continued to mount.

Wisanger was still finding it difficult to move the ball forward and at three quarter time was looking down the barrel of the task ahead. Kingscote 15.5, Wisanger 4.4.

The final quarter was a more even affair as Wisanger gained more advantage from the ruck duels, which Bruce has dominated throughout the match.

The solid teamwork that the Dogs displayed continued to make their use of the ball more effective, and the game ended with the scoreboard (working once again) showing Kingscote 16.8 to Wisanger 6.7. - Peter Brauer
