The Kangaroo Island Calisthenics Club Sub Junior groups travelled to Adelaide on August 12 to compete in the Calisthenic Association of SA State Championships.
This year, there were 24 participants travelling, along with coach Kirby Fryar, Abby Murray and Alex Wheaton as junior coaches, plus KICC committee members who did all the hair, make up, costumes and food.
There were also plenty of parents and family members who travelled along to watch the girls do what they had worked so hard for all year, and guess what, it paid off - they won!!!
The Sub Juniors received 1st Place for their March, 2nd Place for Club Swinging, 1st Place for Exercises, 4th Place for Rods and 3rd Place for Character Folk Dance, giving them an overall aggregate point score of 19 and being awarded 1st place out of the total seven teams.
A fantastic effort from all involved, especially for some of the girls bring their first time away on the big stage. They held their nerves well and performed brilliantly.
Thank you to everyone involved, Calisthenics is a huge commitment, but very rewarding to watch all the hard work pay off.
