The Islander Estate Vineyards is proud to have received multiple top marks in this year's Halliday Wine Companion.

The Kangaroo Island winery received 95 points or better on six of its wines and 90-plus on another of its five wines.

The Islander Estate's Yale Norris said the annual James Halliday Annual Wine Companion is considered the consummate guide for Australian wine makers and consumers.

"We're proud as punch to not only retain our 5-star rating again in 2020, but to have six wines receive 95+ point reviews, including the 97 point The Cygnet Shiraz," Mr Norris said.

The tasting notes of The Cygnet Shiraz read as follow: "Hand-picked bushvine vineyard, destemmed into demi-muids for wild fermentation and extended maceration on skins until mlf completed, the juice run off and the skins pressed in a hand-operated basket press, blended after 2 years in demi-muids. An extremely complex and powerful wine with black fruits, spices, oak, tannins, earth and sea spray moulded into a single flame of flavour."

Any wine that rates between 94 and 100 points in the Halliday Wine Companion is considered to be outstanding, of the highest quality, and often with a distinguished pedigree, Mr Norris said.

"So we're thrilled to share the wines rated 95+ points in this year's Wine Companion," he said.
