The final service at the oldest church on Kangaroo Island will be held at 10.30am on Sunday, September 29 at the Penneshaw Uniting Church.
The church was built 136 years ago in 1883 on Howard Drive overlooking the ocean, initially serving the Penneshaw Methodist community.
KI Uniting Church chairperson Libby Kelly said everyone was welcome to the service, where Sandy Brown would be giving a talk about the building's history.
The Uniting Church Synod of South Australia would be placing the property on the market for sale, she said.
The Anglican Church at Parndana was recently sold at auction and is being turned into a local produce cafe by a local couple.
Uniting Church members from Penneshaw would now be joining to the American River congregation at their church for Sunday services, Mrs Kelly said.
