Kangaroo Island community radio elects new committee

Kangaroo Island's community radio station 90.7 5Kix-FM has elected a new committee.

The new chairperson is Lisa Collins, with vice-chairman Jeremy Hassan, secretary Tim Nicholson, treasurer Lamonia Boers, and the rest of the committee being Iris Noyce, Angela Jones and Stephen Mitchell as public officer.

Lisa said all committee members had vital roles coordinating fundraising, governance, sponsorship, marketing and more.

"This committee is guided by the community in the area of community connections and support, youth development in areas of media and confidence, introducing more informative and topical shows and opportunities for new and existing presenters," she said.

"Working closely with the school, arts, events and the community on a strong vision of bringing comfort and connectivity to many.

The station's raffles and buying a birthday song concept had been very successful, she said.

The 5Kix-FM car boot sale at the Kingscote jetty on Sunday, October 6 proved a big sucess, with Jodie Taylor taking home the big raffle prize.

"We are always looking for more people with skills and positive foresight to contribute to this media music and art station," Lisa said.

"In fact we gained a few more members and happy shoppers at the boot sale as well as attracted a new keen committee member."
