Four tourism businesses in Kangaroo Island have been announced as finalists in the 2019 South Australian Tourism Awards.

The winners across more than 25 categories will be revealed at the prestigious Gala Dinner on Friday, November 8 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Most category winners go on to represent South Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Canberra in 2020.

In 2018, Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari was crowned best Tour and Transport Operator. Dudley Wines also took home a silver medal in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries category.

Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) Chief Executive Officer, Shaun de Bruyn said Kangaroo Island is home to many fantastic tourism experiences.

"The South Australian Tourism Awards Gala Dinner is a premier industry event celebrating the tourism operators across the state that have gone over and above to achieve outstanding success," said Mr de Bruyn.

"Kangaroo Island is a wonderful region and the unique experiences on offer for our visitors really help set South Australia apart amongst a highly competitive industry. I congratulate all finalists and wish them the best of luck."

Acting Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Pisoni said the awards not only recognised excellence in tourism experiences, but also highlighted the world-class expertise offered by South Australian business operators.

"Our appeal as a destination has never been higher. We continue to deliver solid growth in bookings, outstanding events and amazing tourism offerings right across our state. It's great to see our South Australian tourism businesses are constantly evolving, being bold and creating lasting impressions.

"I am very proud of the tourism businesses who call SA home. They have very high standards of creativity, innovation, resilience and passion."
