Kingscote Bowling Club was the venue for the Century 21 Real Estate Open Mixed Pairs Tournament on Sunday, November 3, and 14 teams nominated to contest the event.
The green was running well, despite the wet conditions of the previous Friday night, and the sunshine and reasonably gusty west/northwest wind, was a further challenge for the enthusiastic bowlers.
Two games were played, the first with 2/2/2/2 format and the second with 2/4/2.
The notion that a bowler playing 4 consecutive bowls should be successful and be consistently on the Jack, was once again proved to be a fallacy, but there were some very good shots played and there was lots of friendly rivalry as all clubs on the Island were represented.
It was good to see men and women working together for the common good. "Happy wife - Happy Life" was heard from all corners of the green on a regular basis.
Five of the 14 teams managed to win both of their games, which put them in the running for the prize money generously donated by Century 21.
The eventual winners were handed their prizes by the Kingscote Womens President - Leonie Bell.
The winners were Mark Griffith and Molly Turner and the runners-up Steve and Judy Bell. Thank you to Century 21 Real Estate for their ongoing sponsorship, Val Hazelwood for the Raffle Prize won by Rod Cowin, and Judy for organising and running the event. - Mary Glasson
