The Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association now has a section on its website dedicated to "Those who served" in any war and who have a connection to KI.
It may be that they enlisted from Kangaroo Island or that they moved to live on the Island later.
For Remembrance Day on Monday. November 11, and the rest of the week, call into the Kingscote Public Library to use one of their computers to check out your relatives on that site, free of charge.
Library officer Tanya Tweden has set up clear instructions on how to do the search and is pictured demonstrating how easy it all is.
If you want to try at home, simply put Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association into your search engine and when you have the home page photo of Flagstaff Hill on the screen, click on 'Those Who Served' in the boxes under the photo.
It will take you to a page listing different wars and you can find names in alphabetical order after clicking on the appropriate era.
Move across to the right of the screen and then by using 'click here' more details will come up.
Thank-you to the staff at KI Council for setting up access to this information, and to David Wilson and the Pioneers Association for the time and effort to create this important data base.
A Remembrance Day service will be held at the Kingscote War Memorial on the foreshore at 10.30am on Monday, November 11 officiated by Legacy chairman Pierre Gregor. The KI RSL sub-branch will host lunch at Rabbit Warren Bakery.
