Grace Schoff wins inaugural Rodger Borgmeyer award at Parndana Show shearing | PHOTOS

The shearing competition at the 2019 Parndana Show was hotly contested as always.

Deputy Premier Vickie Chapman spoke about her early involvement with Kangaroo Island and how her father Ted Chapman ran the first shearing competition.

She then introduced Rodger Borgmeyer, Parndana Show life member and Shearing Committee member.

On behalf of the Show Committee, Vickie presented Rodger with a new award in his name as a recognition for all of his work for the Show Society to present to an up-and-coming shearer.

The inaugural winner of the Rodger Borgmeyer award was Grace Schoff, the only female competitor in the 2019 show shearing competition.

Spring into summer is not only about cutting hay, spring lambs and the beginning of the shearing season but also the induction of the newest members to the Kangaroo Island Shearing Hall of Fame.

Shearer Denis Perkins and our first female woolclasser, Ruth Waddell will join this elite group surrounded by their families, friends and past inductees on Sunday, December 8 at a luncheon held in their honour at the Parndana Hotel.

Young shearer Josh Talbot, who lost his arm in a car accident is this year's guest speaker and an inspiration to all who work in the shearing industry.

Wine auction and wine sales will again be a feature to the day with some proceeds assisting charities and shearing events around Parndana.
