Kangaroo Island resident Gary Symonds won a statewide photographic and video competition with his celestial image of the night sky above the Cape du Couedic Lighthouse.
The recent bushfires on Kangaroo Island burned right up to the two lighthouses in Flinders Chase National Park, but both are still standing.
Gary won the People's Choice category in the "Essence of Heritage" competition that ran last year and was open to the public and run by SA Heritage Council and Heritage SA.
The winners were announced on November 22 and Gary won a trip on the One and All sail training ship.
Two out of the 14 finalists submitted Kangaroo Island scenes.
Gary, who works for SA Water on the Island, also is an exhibiting member of the KI Gallery and more of his stunning work can seen at the gallery in Murray Street, Kingscote.
