New shoots are natures way of repairing and growing after a bush fire and on Kangaroo Island.
This is becoming increasingly evident and signifies the beginning of the return to health and vitality in our dynamic ecosystem.
The New Shoots Music Festival 2020 is being held at the Penneshaw Oval on Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5.
Organiser and Dudley Peninsula farmer Andy Gilfillan said the festival would be a way for mainland and local people to show their support for Kangaroo Island.
The festival is also expected to raise a significant amount of money for the KI Mayoral Bushfire Relief and Recovery Fund. The New Shoots committee consists of local and mainland people.
All artists, bands and event management staff will travel to KI free of charge and the significant planning and infrastructure is being supplied at or near cost which means that more money can flow into the fund.
Among those appearing will be internationally acclaimed Led Zeppelin cover band the Zep Boys.
Vince Contarino, who is bringing his the Zep Boys over, has a long association with the Island.
"I love Kangaroo Island, I lived on the island and played in a couple of local bands and made great friendships," Vince said.
"It was heart breaking to see the damage the fires have done but now it's time for each of us to do what we can do that will be best for the Island.
"For me, I'm a performer so I want to come and perform and raise funds that way and it's going to be a lot of fun."
I addition to the Zep Boys, there will be some local talent as well as the eight-piece Rolling Stones cover band Satisfaction, Adelaide's premier party band four-piece Happy Leonards and up-and-coming Triple J three-piece Rat Ta'Mango.
"More artists will be released to make this an amazing night for everyone," Andy said.
