What a magnificent day for archery on Sunday, June 28.

This was the second outing for Island Target Archery since COVID-19 lockdown restrictions eased, and all shot very well "christening" the new field course.

Annabelle was visiting from the mainland and took advantage of the beautiful weather.

Her uncle Steve Berzel shot as well, and we look forward to him shooting with us in the future, and now he has purchased a new recurve bow, we will be seeing a lot of him, we hope.

Ikora Rey brought Mia Moore to the range, as well as her new puppies. Mia really enjoyed the field course where many golds were shot.

But, the shining star of the day was Eva Trevarthen. Her form is improving and the joy on her face while going through the field course was amazing.

The following Sunday, it was very overcast but rain held off for the shoot.

Island Target Archery has purchased another swinging target for the field course, as well as 10 bales of hay to be used as targets.

So our mini field course has grown to a full-size course in a matter of weeks.

Eva tried her first shoot at "Clout Archery".

Clout is shot in many countries around the world although Archery Australia shoots a unique style of clout.

Clout Archery is a traditional archery event having its roots back to medieval archery when archers would lob their arrows onto advancing armies.

Clout archery is shot over long ranges with distances up to 180m depending upon equipment that is used. The target is laid flat on the ground and archers shot their arrows into the air attempting to land the arrows in the target.

Island Target Archery would like to welcome their two newest members of Archery Australia. Mia Moore and Eva Trevarthen.

They are both Cubs, so will be competing together, and now as they are members, their scores will be placed on the Archery Australia website, Archer's Diary.

And there is a chance to win medals and our end of year trophy.

Island Target Archery "aims" to keep each week exciting and different for the kids, while improving their archery skills.

If you would like to try archery give us a call on 0418 833 515, and if you are an experienced archer come along with your gear. We shoot every Sunday morning.
