Opportunistic members of Men's Sheds dotted across regional SA can now apply for grant handouts with this latest round seeking applications with a focus on COVID-19 recovery initiatives.

Round 21 of the National Men's Shed Development Program will specifically prioritise requests with a strong health, wellbeing or safety emphasis in acknowledgement of the impact of the coronavirus and the needs of sheds now and into the future.

Furthermore, IT equipment and training will also be looked upon favourably in a bid to facilitate increased connectivity among the shedders.

Federal Barker Member Tony Pasin is keen to see shed committees in his electorate of Barker and those beyond apply for funds up to $8000.

"Now more than ever, sheds offer men a critical avenue for social support and engagement," he said.

"To stay healthy, we all need to do regular activities with the people around us, and our local Men's Sheds have become a focal point for the Barker community."

Members of Men's Sheds can apply for financial support across the following funding categories:

  • Category 1: Health, Wellbeing, and Events $8000 maximum
  • Category 2: Shed Improvements $8000 maximum
  • Category 3: Equipment $5000 maximum

Since 2013 the Australian Government has provided $5.4 million to support Men's Sheds across the nation.

The Australian Men's Shed Association is the national service provider servicing more than 1200 Men's Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia's largest male based community development organisations.

Applications for this latest round close on Friday, November 27.
